VIDEO: CREEPY LIFE-LIKE ROBOT, SOPHIA, FINALLY GET LEGS

Over the past few years, Sophia has had an extremely high rise to fame, she has featured on the front of magazines, become the first AI granted citizenship, and she got onto Twitter and was trashed-talked by Elon Musk. Now in 2018, she gets some legs!

The company who made Sophia, Hanson Robotics, has partnered with Rainbow Robotics and Drones and Autonomous Systems Lab to give her proper working legs. She had everything from the waist above and now, according to Fortune, she got DRC-HUBO body with mechanical legs attached – and some awful looking cowboy boots. For now, Sophia's legs can only go at the slow pace of 0.6 miles an hour, but they are working on it, soon she will be running by the time the robot apocalypse comes our way.

The ultimate goal for the founder of Hanson Robotics, David Hanson, hopes to have Sophia working alongside humans in factory situations. Dr Ben Goertzel, chef scientists of Hanson Robotics said in a statement: "Giving Sophia a more complete and robust embodiment is a key part of our ongoing, rapidly accelerating quest to supply her and our other Hanson robots with general intelligence at the human level and ultimately beyond."

Even though there are other companies that have developed their own AI robots, including Honda and Boston Dynamics, Hanson Robotics still seems to be leading the way with humanoids. Sophia has also shared thoughts on how much she wants a baby, after observing human behaviour and relationships in her life so far.
