VIDEO: ROBOTIC CARS ARE ABOUT TO PATROL THE STREETS OF DUBAI!

Dubai has become one of the hottest places for companies to test out their latest and wildest future tech. It was not long ago that Dubai announced they are getting flying taxis by the end of July, so it is fitting that the next move is robotic police; actual autonomous police robots that will be patrolling the city, what a time to be alive!!

The self-driving police car will offer 360-degree surveillance technology and can be programmed to patrol specific areas. It will be able to use biometric scanners to look for suspects, identify suspicious objects, launch a mini drone and even give chase to suspects.

The robot, named the O-R3, was developed by Singapore start-up OTSAW Digital. The robot is not set to fully replace human officers but can perform low-level patrols and surveillance work. It will mainly be deployed in tourist areas. The cars can cruise along these areas and the cameras it is equipped with scans the faces of anyone it comes across, the biometric data is then compared to known criminals and wanted individuals, alerting the police command centre if it spots anyone who needs a closer look.

The bot can even head back to its base station to power up when its batteries are running low, patrolling at all hours of the day and covering more ground than the manned police force can on its own.
