APPLE'S MACOS AND IOS KERNEL IS NOW OPEN SOURCE, BUT WHY?
Apple has released its second kernel open source code of iOS software, but there is a twist...
For the first time, Apple has released the kernel software as an open source code for iOS and macOS for ARM processors. The kernel source code could also run on an iOS device, following the release of the latest iPhone and new products. However, the tech company wouldn't normally release the ARM version of the kernel software, but as the source code only displays the code that operates the most important functions for the smartphones and iPads.
Releasing the information gives demonstrators their open source work as well as attract developers to take a closer look; which will have more benefits for developers than the user.
It allows developers to take a deeper look at how iOS operates because they might want to use the information details to access the software before embedding their elements of the XNU code.
Having the code as an open source is not something to get too excited about because there is not a lot you can do with the information. The source code does not reveal the interface, developer framework or application system for Apple software, but it does give users and developers an insight into how the system operates across Apple's devices.
