NETFLIX IS WORKING ON SPATIAL AUDIO FOR AIRPODS

Netflix has been at it again, with a new feature rolling out soon that will support immersive spatial audio for Apple AirPods and EarBuds.

Gone are the days that you need a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound home theatre system to get the most out of good quality audio for movies. Netflix has been working on a new audio system for their streaming service that gives an immersive spatial audio experience to viewers using EarBuds and AirPods.

Both the Apple AirPods Pro, AirPods Max and the Samsung Galaxy Buds Max offer spatial audio capabilities. However, currently this feature is only available on Dolby Atmos mastered content and content on the Apple Store. Netflix, as a third party streaming service in this case, has taken full advantage of this feature and currently offers spatial audio for the Galaxy Buds Pro, and is working on offering the same features for the Apple AirPods.

It will only be a matter of time for this feature to be offered to most audio hardware that supports spatial audio.
