THE STORY BEHIND SAMSUNG'S MATRIX PHONE
Here is the story behind the phone made specifically for The Matrix Reloaded movie in 2003.
Mobile phones have come a long way since the second Matrix movie in 2003. We now are so used to smartphones being the norm, we have grown accustomed to their size, sounds, capabilities and operating system. Sadly, the reality is that phones nowadays, fantastic and technologically advanced as they are, are quite boring.
Back in the early 2000s, whenever you'd upgrade or invest in a new mobile phone, the upgraded features would blow your mind without fail each and every time. But, here in 2020, a new phone is pretty much identical to your last phone besides maybe the choice of colour and a few internal hardware specifications.
Samsung reached out to the creators of The Matrix and paid them a hefty sum to have a Samsung mobile phone product placed in their sequel, The Matrix Reloaded, which was released in 2003. Samsung recognised this opportunity quickly, as Nokia did the same thing in the first movie with their Nokia 8110, and was a huge success. Samsung, however, made a phone specifically for the movie, but it actually worked and was sold as the Samsung Matrix phone that fans could actually buy.
