VIDEO: THE MIRA PRISM IS AN AFFORDABLE IPHONE-POWERED REALITY HEADSET
Augment reality is still not a mass market product, with Microsoft's HoloLens raging around $3,000 most of us have decided to wait until something more affordable hits the shelves.
A Los Angeles-based startup company Mira has come up with a $99 solution for iPhone users, called the Mira Prism.
Their motto shouts 'true augmented reality, powered by your smartphone' and the company wants to take over the market with help from developers. The Mira Prism is a headset that lets you interact with holographic images overlaid in the real world. The phone has positioned away from your face and the images end up reflected off the clear lens, giving users the sensation of perceiving virtual objects. The phone's sensor tracks your position and movement, giving it an even more credibility. It is so easy to use that there is no need for any plugs, computers or wires.
The device will be available later this year, but in the meantime, they are starting to ship the headsets to developers in order to propose different experiences. Have a look at the video to see the Mira Prism in action.
