BLACKMAGIC URSA 12K VIDEO CAMERA
Blackmagic Design has done it again with the Ursa Mini Pro 12K professional video camera.
Blackmagic Design can be considered the underdog of professional video and sound equipment, alongside Red and Arri. But, every now and then, Blackmagic Design throws a spanner in the works with some mind blowing new tech in their products.
This time, Blackmagic Design has introduced 12K resolution into their cinema camera lineup!
There are a number of reasons why you would want to shoot 12K resolution, the same goes for why we wanted to shoot 4K in the past and then eventually 8K. These monstrous resolutions normally become standardised in cameras way before TV's and displays and, as odd as that might sound, there is a reason behind it.
First off, shooting at higher resolutions help maximise detail in the frame, and gives post-production artists and editors more leeway with digital reframing and cropping.
However, as the general understanding of Moore's Law states, we can expect 12K resolutions to become a standard in displays over the next couple of years.
