TESLA IS SET TO BUILD WORLD'S BIGGEST BATTERY IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA!
South Australia will be home to the world's largest lithium-ion battery thanks to an agreement between Tesla and the State Government, with Tesla boss Elon Musk promising to build it in 100 days, or it is free...
One of Telsa's main selling points is the way they can keep a home up and run during a blackout. The company has ambitious plans to extend this functionality to an entire Australia state by building this battery storage system to keep homes powered come hell or high water.
Tesla has been awarded the contract for this key component which will use a scaled up version of the company's commercial Powerpack energy storage system. The lithium-ion battery storage facility will be boasting a capacity of 100 MW and an output of up to 129 MWh. The power pack system will be hooked up to the Hornsdale Wind Farm under construction near Jamestown, storing the energy for on-demand delivery to some 30,000 homes. Tesla is aiming to make good on the promise of completing the task in 100 days, setting the project's completion date for December.
