In all fairness, the Russian Military combat suit looks like a character out of Star Wars. The combat suit was showed off at a science and technology university in Moscow. The "next-generation" suit comes with a "powered exoskeleton" that supposedly gives the soldier more strength and stamina, along with a "cutting edge" body armour, a helmet and visor that shields the soldier's face.
The suit also features a pop-up display that can be used for tasks like examining a plan for the battlefield. There is also a light on the side of the helmet for inspecting maps or weapons.
The Russian Military hopes to produce the suit within the next couple of years, but the video only shows a static display of the suit and it remains an open question of whether it actually has any of the capabilities that are claimed. There are still some technical problems that persist; for example, the batteries required to power the exoskeleton - many of which have leg braces that evenly distributes weight and allows soldiers to run faster and jump higher.
This all seems like it comes from a Sci-Fi movie, but we will have to wait and see what happens with the concept in a couple of years. In the meanwhile watch the video below to see the concept for yourself.
