BALLOONS WILL SOON FEATURE IN FORTNITE

Epic Games' message of the day for Fortnite Battle Royale has revealed a brand new feature, which will see some balloons making an appearance.

It seems the balloons will be making the appearance shortly, possibly with the next patch for Fortnite Battle Royale. The items were previously leaked in a patch update, but it wasn’t known exactly what they did or were planned to do when they dropped into the game's battleground. Luckily, Epic Games have given us a hint as to their purpose in the game.

Here is the description that was given in the Message of the Day for Fortnite Battle Royale:

"Inflate balloons to defy gravity! Add balloons to increase your altitude!"

As you can see, it seems that players will be able to use these balloons as an alternative to the Grappler item or the vaulted Jetpack item. The Jetpack allowed players to boost and soar through the sky – but it seems we’ll be given a more pure, weaker solution to achieving this in Fortnite.

We'll have to see if these items will take up any inventory slots, or give some sort of consequence for players using them. It might allow enemy players to shoot the balloons – popping them and sending the user falling to their death.

It is expected that balloons will be added to Fortnite in the upcoming patch, although this could be changed by Epic Games at any time. The balloons are in the files, so they could go live anytime the developers feel like it.
