HOW TO MAKE A DRAMATIC BLACK AND WHITE EDIT - ADOBE PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL
Black and white images evoke a sense of raw emotion to the view and allow them not to be distracted by the use and phycological effects of colour which is why, when used correctly, they can work wonders in all forms of photography.
However, back in the day when film was still used in photography, you could simply load up some black and white film and you were ready to go. If you wanted to manipulate the effects of black and white "in-camera" you could do so with the help of some coloured filters which would extenuate the grey tones to be either lighter or darker in appearance. But in digital photography, things might be a little more complex. For example, you can easily shoot in a monochromatic picture style, but this gives you little to no leeway in post-production as the use of colour allows you to manipulate a black and white image to a far greater extent in post-production. Furthermore, there are many ways to create a black and white image in Photoshop as well.
