INSTAGRAM CAUGHT KEEPING YOUR DELETED DATA

Instagram has been caught keeping users data, as in photos, videos and messages, after you have deleted them.

Social media users like to believe that online social network services like Facebook and Instagram are here to protect us and have the best interest of the users at heart but, sadly, this is not necessarily the case.

Instagram has been caught keeping users data long after it has been "deleted". How this was inevitably found out was by a user who read Instagram's terms and conditions and user privacy documents carefully. What was pointed out was that once a user has deleted a post off of Instagram, they will be fully removed from the social networks' servers within a maximum of 90 days. However, after well over a year, the user managed to retrieve all his lost data upon request!

When he queried this with Instagram they claimed it was a bug and offered him $6,000 as a reward for finding it. But there is a lot of suspicion around whether the reward was to subtly keep him quiet... Clearly, he wasn't!
