THE CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTRE - 1970S ORIGINAL FOOTAGE

September 11th 2021 marked the 20th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in the history of the United States as hijacked planes targeted the twin towers in New York City and brought them down in a fireball just hours later.

The World Trade Center buildings marked one of the most iconic landmarks in the world with two identical towers side by side that reached a record height of 415 metres and their construction began in 1968 with the first tenants moving in at the end of 1970 for the north tower and 1972 for the south tower and occupied a mammoth 110 floors that made up each tower.

The twin towers that made up the New York World Trade Center became an icon of Manhatten and was featured in many movies filmed in the area and also served backgrounds and locations of a variety of music videos.

As of September 11th 2001, all this burnt to the ground and now the grounds are home to a memorial to the 3000 lives that were lost on that tragic day.
