THE US DEMOLISHED THE WOLRD'S LARGEST DARK WEB DRUG MARKETPLACE!

AlphaBay is a marketplace where you can buy illegal drugs and falsified documents on the dark web. Earlier this month AlphaBay was facing a major outage where it was believed that the incident was tied to plans to steal users funds and vanishing into thin air.

The US Department of Justice announced that it has shut down AlphaBay, following the arrest and suicide of the marketplace's creator and administrator Alexandre Cazes.

It was a huge blow to the 200,000-odd dealers and consumers of drugs, hacking, tools and stolen ID documents and firearms who used the marketplace around the globe. It is believed that AlphaBay was about 20 times bigger than the infamous Silk Road network; if you go by the number of transactions conducted on the site.

26-year-old Cazes is said to have been in possession of $23 million in assets, including real estates, luxury vehicles and cryptocurrency. Alexandre Cazes also managed to maintain a front company EBX Technologies in order to justify his banking transactions. EBX itself did not seem to conduct any business itself and the site had not been updated since 2015.

Cazes was arrested in Thailand on July 5, the same day that AlphaBay experienced an outage and he committed suicide on July 12 in a prison there. The mission to take down AlphaBay was called Operation Bayonet and was run by the US partnership with the National Dutch Police to take down the second dark web drug marketplace Hansa.
