VIDEO: EVER WONDERED HOW A GAS TURBINE ENGINE WORKS...
This is a brief explanation of how the gas turbine engine works that powers the Bell 206-Series Helicopters. The turbine engine operates of pressurised airflow that is compressed and accelerated by the compressor and the ignited and rapidly expanded in the combustion chamber.
The expanding gasses turns the turbine and powers the compressor and power turbine that transmits power to the helicopter. All jet engines that is also called a gas turbine, works on the same principles.
The engine sucks air on at the front of those powerful fans, a compressor raises the pressure of the air - the compressor is made with many blades attached to a shaft - the blades spin at high speed and compress or squeeze the air. The burning gasses expand and blast out through the nozzles at the back of the engine.
