The Nokia 8 has been unveiled and it is running on Android software. The phone is made by HMD Global, which has already released the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 in South Africa. The Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch 2,560 x 1,440 LCD display, an aluminium body – which is 4.6mm thick at the edges and 7.3mm ” on average” – and is available in four colours: Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue, and Steel.
The device is set to go on sale in September and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which is attached to a copper cooling pipe that runs across the phone. The Nokia 8 also packs some kickass-high-end cameras, with a dual rear unit which comprises one 13MP monochrome camera and one 13MP colour camera.
The front camera is also 13MP, with all the units equipped with an f2.0 Zeiss lens. It is stated that user will be able to use all three cameras at once as well as display and record from the front and rear cameras at the same time. The Nokia 8 further features three embedded microphones and OZO Audio, which allows for the recording of 360-degree spatial surround sound.
