VIDEO: INTRODUCING THE WORLD'S MOST CAPABLE ALL-TERRAIN ELECTRIC SKATEBOARD
The Flux Design co. combined an electric skateboard with a power sports utility vehicle to create an all-terrain board for surfing the Earth. The Seattle-based company's Track1 has a deck made of carbon fibre and kevlar, with ATC-grade wheels at the front and tank treads at the back. The lightweight board's rechargeable battery has a top speed of over 32km/h and has a range of 19km.
The Track One allows the rider to use a remote control while leaning into turns to steer the board. The board features removable bindings to improve foot grip and allows you to control the board like a snowboard. While the rear-driven track helps to navigate sharp turns and skids, with motor-braking that brings the board to rest. The Seattle-based company says the board can climb hills up to a 50% grade.
The all-terrain skateboard also makes use of a variety of lightweight materials to keep weight to a minimum, while ensuring durability. The deck is constructed from layers of carbon fibre, kevlar and a core material, and the removable handlebars use a carbon, aluminium and chromoly construction.
The power of the Track1 comes courtesy of a five-horsepower rear electric motor spinning the track, which can increase the size of the contact patch, allowing the board to glide over soft terrain.
The Flux Design co.'s Track1 is reaching out for funding via its Indiegogo campaign, which can be viewed in detail here. You can also see the all-terrain skateboard in action in the video below:
