VIDEO: THIS CAMERA SLIDER MAKES FILMING WORTH IT

Every professional cinematographer's dream is to always achieve those butter-smooth side-to-side sliding shots and, with an expensive camera and equipment, it is possible. But gear-maker Rhino is working to make this filming trick more accessible. With their latest device, the ROV shapes are designed to give smartphone owners a new means of getting crafty behind the lens.

The pro version of the ROV Camera Slider is made to work with DSLR and Mirrorless cameras weighing up to 2.2kg, but with smartphone cameras getting better all the time, Rhino thinks it is time to get in on the act. Android phones, iPhones and GoPros can be latched to the standard ROV while the battery, motor and drive system are hidden inside, then is a simple case of gently gliding the device along the aluminium unibody rail at up to 2.5 cm per second.

The Rhino ROV is controlled via a dedicated app and comes in two sizes, a 20cm version for everyday use and a 40cm version for the longer slides. The company is running a Kickstarter campaign and shipping starts in April 2018, if the campaign runs as planned.

In the meantime have a look at the ROV pitch video below and let us know what you think:
