VIDEO: WAIT...WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, IT IS A WALKING BIKE!
The mechanical walking mechanism is the creation of a Californian art and engineering collective, called Carv. They reinvented the wheel, but they redesigned it as walking-spider-legs!
The bicycle had a simple blueprint that’s inspired by the Dutch artist Theo Jansen's Strandbeest leg system. Theo Jansen released his Strandbeest in 1990 and explains it as a mechanical creature that is part works of art, part machines and part life!
Do not expect to go very fast, it requires a flat surface to work correctly and moves at a brisk walking speed. Although the design still needs a lot of work and designer Jon Paul is not sure yet when he will make the bike available for purchase, it is still a really cool concept.
