WHY IS GOLD SO EXPENSIVE?
Gold has been considered a precious metal for centuries and has been used as a form of currency over the years as well and its reputation still remains today. But this doesn't necessarily explain our fascination with this metal or its price for that matter.
Many people assume that the rarity of gold justifies its extreme price tag, but that's again not necessarily the case as other metals such as Osmium is even more rare than gold, but is only a quarter of the price of gold per ounce.
Gold is without a doubt loved by many people and in history too largely because of its colour and beauty, and in society, it has a sense of glamour around it.
However, scientists now believe that gold wasn't from this earth and was formed by two neutron stars colliding which shot off gold atoms into space and gold arrived on the earth over 3 billion years ago.
