VIDEO: THE X1 EXPLORER IS A FULL E-BIKE THAT FOLDS IN SECONDS

A new electric bike has launched via Kickstarter that aims to raise $60,000 over the next 30 days. Called the X1 explorer, the compact folding e-bike features an X-shaped aluminium frame that can be folded from road-ready to golf-bag travel size in a matter of seconds.

The X1 explorer has two battery options; the standard 8.7ah version offers up to 40km, while an option to upgrade to an 11.6ah battery will reach just under 60km. A 250w brushless rear hub motor helps the e-bike – whose drive is powered by two 10-inch wheels – reach a top speed of 30km/h on flat ground.

The X1 has an interface in the centre of the handlebars that shows speed, temperature, remaining range and time, whilst an LED brake light, horn and integrated front light let riders alarm those surrounding them. To maximize comfortability for the rider, the suspensions have been included in both and front as well as the rear. The e-bike also features a security system, that is an anti-theft alarm that can be activated with a wireless key fob, which is also used to start the bike.

The X1 explorer boasts GPS tracking technology which can be accessed via a smartphone app for iOS and Android, also doubling up as a control panel incorporating some of the functions of the centralized interface of the e-bike and the key fob. The most epic feature is the fact that the X1 can be folded in one second to a size of 42-inches, only weighing 20kg making it light enough to carry.

The full Kickstarter campaign can be seen here, and the X1 electronic bike can be seen in action, in the video below:
