Planning on buying a Playstation 5 or Xbox Series X? Here is why you'll need a new TV.

A new gaming console is probably the most convenient and hassle-free option if you want to take gaming seriously as, for the most part, its a complete plug and play solution.

But as technology advances, there are a few things you'll have to consider before you invest in a new console, whether its the Sony Playstation 5 or the Xbox Series X or Series S. These new consoles have both pushed the boundaries of gameplay experience when it comes to resolution, HDR capabilities and frames per second.

But if you intend on gaming on a standard PC monitor or TV, you'll essentially be wasting your money. Although the Sony Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X and S offer 1080p and lower frames per second gameplay, you'll not experience what these consoles have to offer entirely, and it will be virtually identical to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

What you'll need to take into consideration if you intend of reaping the maximum capabilities of these consoles, first of all, the resolution of your display: Are you going to invest in a new TV that offers 4K or even 8K resolutions? And secondly, you'll want to pay attention to what refresh rate options you'll have on your new TV, such as 120 FPS and or V-Sync (variable frame rates).
